
Rise in the minimum wage 2025
As of January 1, 2025, the minimum wage will be increased again. For employees aged 21 and over, the gross minimum hourly wage will rise to €14.06 per hour. This represents an increase of 2.75% compared to July 2024. Read on to quickly learn what this change means for you.
What is the minimum wage?
The minimum wage is the statutory amount that an employee must receive at a minimum for their work. In the Netherlands, the full minimum wage applies from age 21. For younger workers (ages 15–20), there is a statutory youth minimum wage. The minimum wage is adjusted twice a year, on January 1 and July 1.
Minimum wage as of January 1, 2025
What exactly is changing now? The minimum wage will increase by 2.75%. This means the minimum wage for employees aged 21 and over will change from €13.68 to €14.06 gross per hour. If you are 20 years old or younger, read on to learn precisely what changes for you.
The amounts by age category are as follows:
- 21 years and older: €14.06 gross per hour
- 20 years: €11.25 gross per hour
- 19 years: €8.44 gross per hour
- 18 years: €7.03 gross per hour
- 17 years: €5.55 gross per hour
- 16 years: €4.85 gross per hour
- 15 years: €4.22 gross per hour
