Job application tips for logistics workers: how to stand out to employers
Are you looking for a job in logistics? Or do you simply want a new challenge as a logistics employee? Then it’s important not only to have the right experience and skills but also to present yourself well during the application process. With these practical job application tips, you’ll stand out to employers and increase your chances of landing that great logistics job!

1. Ensure a Clear CV
Employers in logistics receive many applications every day. Make it easy for them to see your experience. Clearly list your work experience, education, certificates (such as forklift or reach truck certification), and any additional skills. Keep it organized and limit your CV to a maximum of two pages.

2. Write a targeted motivation letter
A standard letter is not enough. In your motivation letter, explain why you are the ideal candidate for the logistics position. For example, mention your experience with inventory management, order picking, or transport planning. Also demonstrate that you are motivated to work in a team and that you are flexible and available—these are qualities highly valued in logistics.
3. Prepare well for the job interview
During a job interview, it’s not only about your resumé, but especially about your personality and motivation. Prepare for questions such as:
- How do you handle busy peak periods?
- What experience do you have with using logistics software or scanners?
- Can you provide an example of how you solved a problem in the warehouse?
Also think about questions you want to ask yourself. For example, about working hours, opportunities for advancement, or the company culture.

4. Show your practical skills
In logistics, it’s all about getting things done. Are you able to work efficiently and act safely? Emphasize this during your application. Do you have experience with forklifts, reach trucks, or other equipment? Mention it, and provide examples of situations where you applied these skills.
5. Be reliable and flexible
Employers in logistics are looking for people they can count on. Reliability and flexibility are therefore key words. During your application, show that you’re willing to work extra hours during busy periods, that you can collaborate well with colleagues, and that you can solve problems independently.
6. Take an extra course or certificate
Do you want to improve your chances? Consider obtaining an additional certificate. Think of a VCA certificate, forklift certificate, or a warehouse management course. This shows that you’re actively investing in your personal development and that you take the role seriously.
7. Follow the right preparation tips for online applications
More and more, applications (partly) take place online. Make sure you are ready for video or telephone interviews:
- Choose a quiet place with good lighting.
- Test your equipment beforehand.
- Dress neatly, even though the interview is taking place online.
